About the course
A cool round in the mountains
Handara is the oldest golf resort in Bali, set on a natural plateau about 1,140 metres above sea level inside an ancient volcanic crater. The 18-hole, par-72 course was designed by Peter Thomson, five-time winner of The Open Championship.
Up here the air is noticeably cooler than on the coast, the fairways are lined with pines and tropical forest, and the lakes of Bedugul are a short drive away.
It is a full-day trip from south Bali — about two to two and a half hours each way — so we start early and have you back by evening. If you would rather stay a night in the mountains, ask about the Handara Stay & Play package.

How much is a Handara golf day trip?
US$120 per player for 2–6 players, US$150 for a solo golfer and US$110 per player for groups of 7 or more — including the return transfer from south Bali, the green fee, a golf cart, a caddie for every player and drinks.
How far is Handara from Seminyak or Nusa Dua?
About 2 hours from Seminyak, Kuta and Legian and about 2.5 hours from Nusa Dua, depending on traffic. We start early so you are back by evening.
Is it cold at Handara?
It is noticeably cooler than the coast — the course sits about 1,140 metres above sea level. A light layer is worth packing.
What is the dress code at Handara?
A collared polo shirt, tailored shorts or trousers and golf shoes with soft spikes. No denim, sleeveless tops, beach shorts, sandals or metal spikes.
